General Well Eye Exams, Vision Screening:
School Exams, Driver’s License Exams, Prescriptions for Contact Lenses and Glasses, Screening for Strabismus and Amblyopia, and Refractive Surgery Screening.
We provide medical and surgical treatment for eye conditions including:
Cataracts, Decreased vision or other vision changes, Diabetes, Glaucoma, Dry Eyes, Blepharitis, Conjunctivitis or “Pink Eye,” Macular Degeneration, Chalazia or Styes, and Pterygium.
We accept most major health insurance plans:
Aetna, Altius, Cigna, Deseret Mutual, EMI Health (Educators Mutual), First Health, Health Utah, Humana, Medicaid, Medicare, MultiPlan Network Plans, Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield, SelectHealth, and Wise Provider Network.

Eye exams are covered by regular health insurance. A vision plan is not required.

What is a Cataract?
The eye’s natural lens sits behind the iris and focuses light on the retina. When the lens becomes cloudy, it is called a cataract. Cataracts are a normal part of the aging process. They can also be caused by UV light exposure, some medications, trauma, diabetes and other medical conditions. Symptoms of cataracts include: Blurry vision, Fading or yellowing of colors, Glare and haloes in bright lights, Decreased night vision, and Double vision.
Cataract Surgery
To remove a cataract, a small incision is made into the cornea. An ultrasonic probe is used to break up the cataract and remove the fragments. The cloudy lens is then replaced with an artificial lens. If you think that your vision may be affected by cataracts, please call us to schedule an appointment.

Dr. Gilbert Wong, MD
Dr. Glibert Wong trained in ophthalmology at the Moran Eye Center at the University of Utah. He is originally from Cleveland, Ohio and attended the University of Michigan for his undergraduate and medical school education.
His expertise is in the medical management of all eye conditions as well as cataract and refractive surgery techniques including LASIK, PRK and presbyopic vision correction. He is an adjunct assistant professor of the University of Utah Department of Ophthalmology and an attending physician at the Salt Lake City VA Hospital. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Utah Ophthalmology Society and the Utah Medical Association.
He has been involved in medical missions abroad, working with the Himalayan Cataract Project to provide cataract surgery to those in need as well as teaching surgical skills to local ophthalmologists in Nepal. He has also been a volunteer at the Fourth Street Clinic in Salt Lake City and the People’s Health Clinic in Park City.
